PASSPORT
A passport is all that is required from most visitors -although Australians and New Zealanders do need visas.

ELECTRICITY
The electrical current is 220 Volts. Please do not forgetan adapter with 3 outputs.

CURRENCY
The Argentinean currency is the Peso ($). The exchange rate is approximately 1.00 USD = 4.00 ARS. You can exchange your money at the airport or at any bank. Almost every store accepts dollar bills and major credit cards.

CLIMATE
The following are average daily maximum and minimum temperatures:


Summer (December to March): between 210 and 320 (C)
Autumn (April to June): between 100 and 220 (C)
Winter (July to September): between 20 and 120 (C)
Spring (September to December): between 130 and 250 (C)


COMUNICATION
The country code for Argentina is 54. The area code for Buenos Aires is 11. You should dial 54 + 11 + local number to call BA from outside of the country.
From Argentina, local and long distance pay phones can be found everywhere. In addition to the "locutorios"(i.e. telephone company offices) that are found all around the city. You can also buy pre-paid cards and make a long distance call from any telephone.
Cybercafes are very common in Buenos Aires and have very fast and reliable connections.


URBAN TRANSPORTATION
A well-organized public transportation system makes travel easy throughout the city. There are many bus lines, named "colectivos" that link the city's neighborhoods, and a subway system that links the main neighborhoods. This public transportation costs $0.80 on average. You may also take taxis or "remises", cars with a driver, both are inexpensive. Subways run between 5 AM and 10 PM. Trains, taxis, remises and buses 24 hours a day.

AIR SERVICES
International flights arrive at Ezeiza Airport, about 45 minutes from downtown. The airport provides 24-hour airport bus service to downtown. Cab services from the airport to downtown costs approximately $48 (Pesos).

Domestic arrivals land at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, which is a 15 minutes cab drive to downtown.

HYDROFOILS
Hydrofoils and ferries cross the Rmo de la Plata between Buenos Aires and Uruguay several times a day.

BUSINESS HOURS
The banks are open Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 3 PM.
Shops are open weekdays from 9 AM to 8 PM, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 1PM. The shopping centers extend their schedules until 10 PM - Monday to Sunday.
Lunch time usually is around 1 PM and dinner after 9 PM. Most restaurants stay open after midnight.

Drinking tap water is safe.
There are more than 30 public hospitals in town, and several private clinics.

TOURIST DEFENSORY
If you visit the city and suffer any kind of mistreatment, abuse or discrimination, contact the "Defensoria del Turista" by phone at 4302-7816. You can also go to the offices at Pedro de Mendoza Avenue 1835 in La Boca neighborhood, from Monday to Friday between 10AM and 6PM, Saturdays and Sundays between 2PM and 6PM.
